USE OF COOKIES

Extended cookie policy

This website uses technical cookies to ensure the proper functioning of procedures and to improve the user experience of online applications. This document provides information on the use of cookies and similar technologies, how they are used by the site, and how to manage them.

Definitions
Cookies are small text files that websites visited by users send to their devices, where they are stored and then retransmitted to the same websites on subsequent visits. So-called “third-party” cookies, on the other hand, are set by a website different from the one the user is visiting. This is because each site may contain elements (images, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages of other domains, etc.) that reside on servers other than that of the visited site.

Types of cookies
Based on their characteristics and use, cookies can be divided into different categories:

> Technical cookies: Technical cookies are those used solely for the purpose of “carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or insofar as strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such service” (see Art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Code). They are not used for any other purposes and are normally installed directly by the website owner or operator.
They may be divided into navigation or session cookies, which ensure normal navigation and use of the website; analytics cookies, which are treated as technical cookies when used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site; and functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a set of selected criteria in order to improve the service provided.
For the installation of these cookies, prior user consent is not required, while the obligation to provide information pursuant to Art. 13 of the Code remains. If the site operator uses only these devices, the information may be provided in the manner deemed most appropriate.

> Profiling cookies: Profiling cookies are designed to create user profiles and are used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the web. Due to the particularly invasive nature these devices may have on users’ private sphere, European and Italian regulations require that users be adequately informed about their use and give their valid consent.
They are referred to in Art. 122 of the Code, which provides that “the storage of information in the terminal equipment of a contractor or user, or access to information already stored, is permitted only on condition that the contractor or user has expressed consent after being informed using the simplified procedures referred to in Article 13, paragraph 3” (Art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Code).
This site does not use profiling cookies.

Third-party cookies
By visiting this website, you may receive cookies from websites managed by other organizations (“third parties”). An example is the presence of “social plugins” for Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or LinkedIn, or embedded multimedia content display systems such as YouTube or Flickr. These are parts generated directly by the aforementioned sites and integrated into the web page of the hosting site visited.
The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all websites managed by third parties. The management of information collected by “third parties” is governed by their respective privacy policies, to which reference should be made. To ensure greater transparency and convenience, the web addresses of the various policies and cookie management methods are listed below:

Cookie duration
Some cookies (session cookies) remain active only until the browser is closed or the logout command is executed. Other cookies “survive” the closure of the browser and are available during subsequent visits by the user. These cookies are called persistent cookies, and their duration is set by the server at the time of their creation. In some cases an expiration date is set; in others, the duration is unlimited.

Cookie management
Users can decide whether or not to accept cookies by using their browser settings.
Please note: disabling technical cookies in whole or in part may compromise optimal use of the site.
Disabling “third-party” cookies does not in any way affect browsing.
Settings can be defined specifically for different websites and web applications. Browsers also allow different settings for “first-party” and “third-party” cookies.
For example, in Firefox, through the menu Tools → Options → Privacy, it is possible to access a control panel where you can decide whether or not to accept different types of cookies and proceed with their removal.
Documentation on how to configure cookie management rules for your browser is readily available online. By way of example, some links for the main browsers are provided below:
